Children & Family Dentist
As a family dentist, Dr. Kandl and his experienced, friendly dental team are able to provide care for your entire family. What can my child expect at their first visit?
The first visit is with the hygienist. She will introduce the patient to all her tools, count their teeth and polish if possible.
Dr. Kandl will then come in and do the exam. We then take a picture of the child in the chair (with parental consent) and make them a certificate for their first visit that they receive in the mail. They are then given a special "smiley face" coin to put in our toy machine.
The only difference between a pediatric dentist and a family dentist is a pediatric dentist specializes in children, and he is able to sedate children if needed. At Dr. Kandl we can provide care for your child and you can feel comfortable knowing that they will receive the same care and kind touch that you as an adult are given. We love making children's dental experiences, especially their first visit, as positive as possible so they are set on a great path for future dental visits.
What age should my child have their first dentist appointment?
Family dentists treat the whole family usually starting around the age of 3. We encourage parents to start their children's dental visits at an early age as it encourages healthy dental care and so they can become familiar with the dental office, staff and Dr. Kandl.
